Viessmann built its first heat pump for the UK market: the same engineering as its premium range, in a compact monobloc unit from 6 kW to 12 kW.
Viessmann quality, built for UK homes
Viessmann has engineered heating technology for over 100 years, mostly for the German market, where many homes share one centralised heating system. The UK doesn't work that way: most homes need their own heat pump. The Vitocal 200-A ie is the first Viessmann heat pump built for that, priced to bring Viessmann engineering to more UK homes.
It uses R290 refrigerant, comes in 6 kW, 8 kW, 10 kW and 12 kW outputs, and integrates the hydraulics and circulation pump into the outdoor unit to keep the indoor footprint small.

What is the Viessmann Vitocal 200-A ie?
The Vitocal 200-A ie is an air-to-water monobloc heat pump in 6 kW, 8 kW, 10 kW and 12 kW sizes. The whole refrigerant circuit stays inside the outdoor unit, along with the hydraulics, the circulation pump and the heating element. Indoors you get a Universal Controller with a 7-inch touchscreen: 45 cm wide, 40 cm high, 13.5 cm deep. Viessmann also sells a Wall Unit, which moves the hydraulics indoors, and an AIO Unit, which adds a built-in hot water cylinder.
Efficiency and performance
All four sizes carry an A+++ efficiency rating, on underfloor heating (W35) and on radiators (W55). It supplies flow temperatures up to 70°C at outdoor temperatures down to -10°C, so a retrofit can often keep the existing radiators instead of upsizing them. The refrigerant is R290 (propane), the same natural refrigerant Vaillant uses across the aroTHERM range, with a GWP of 0.02.
Design and installation
The outdoor unit keeps the same footprint (530 mm deep, 1,140 mm wide) across all four sizes; only the height changes, from 809 mm on the 06 and 08 to 1,009 mm on the 10 and 12. Weight ranges from 93 kg to 118 kg. Installers can cascade up to four outdoor units off a single controller on larger properties. It also won the iF Design Award 2026 for its casing.
Smart controls: One Base Intelligence and the ViCare app
The ViCare app controls the Vitocal 200-A ie, on Viessmann's One Base Intelligence platform. That platform brings solar panels (Vitovolt 300-DG), battery storage (Vitocharge VX3, 5-15 kWh) and EV charging into the same system as the heat pump, and schedules them around dynamic electricity tariffs. ViCare smart radiator and underfloor thermostats add room-by-room control.
Technical specifications
Nominal heat output ranges from 4.9 kW (size 06, A-7/W35) to 9.0 kW (size 12, A-7/W35). Sound power (ErP) ranges from 48 dB(A) on the 06 to 55 dB(A) on the 12. Every size also has a low-noise operating mode. Full figures are in the table below.
