FAQs
What does "performance guaranteed" mean?
We guarantee your system's performance in writing, monitor it digitally, and fix it free if it underperforms.
Who applies for the Home Energy Scotland grant?
You do. Home Energy Scotland asks homeowners to apply themselves, with a quote from an MCS installer. After your design consultation you’ll have your quote and the documents to support your application. Work can start once you have Home Energy Scotland’s written funding offer.
Do I get £7,500 or £9,000 in Scotland?
Most homes can get up to £7,500. Homes in remote rural and island areas, and off-gas rural areas, can get up to £9,000. Home Energy Scotland confirms which applies from your postcode, and your estimate shows the right amount when you enter your address. Eligibility applies.
When is the Home Energy Scotland grant paid?
After your install. Home Energy Scotland pays the grant into your bank account once you send them your invoice and certificates, and you pay your installer. Work can only start once you have their written funding offer, as they don’t fund work retrospectively.
Is there a loan as well as the grant?
Yes. Home Energy Scotland also offers an optional interest-free loan of up to £7,500 on top of the grant. It’s subject to a credit check and a small admin fee (1.5%, capped at £150). You can ask about it when you apply.
